Skuuppi: 2012 BMW 3 -sarja on tässä!

Vuosimallin 2012 BMW 3 -sarjan sedan lienee akseliväliltään entistä mittavampi. Linjat näyttävät hillityn lennokkailta. Sedanin seuraksi tulevat Touring sekä GT-crossover.
Seuraavan polven BMW:n 3-sarjan mallistoa odotetaan markkinoille keväällä 2012, ellei sitten jo vuoden 2011 syksyllä. Tuolloin konepellin alle ilmestyvät muun muassa uudet, nelisylinteriset bensiiniturbomoottorit, joista otetaan tehoa 245 hevosvoimaan asti.
Nelikoiden seuraksi saadaan kuusisylinteriset vaihtoehdot, joista M3:ssa vastannee 336 kW (456 hv) turboahdettu kuutoskone.
Vaihteistoksi tulevaan 3-sarjaan tarjotaan uutukaista, kahdeksanvaihteista automaattia sekä kuusinopeuksista manuaalia.
Sedania seuraa todennäköisesti kesällä tai syksyllä 2012 Touring-farmari, ja vielä hieman myöhemmässä vaiheessa astelee joukon tyylikkääksi jatkoksi crossover-malli GT.
Arvelujen perusteella kolmos-sedanin akseliväli olisi aiempaa pitempi, kenties jopa luokkaa 2800 mm. Se noudattaisi loogista perinnettä, jossa jokaisen 3-sarjalaisen akseliväli on ollut edeltäjäänsä mittavampi.
