Yksilö oli huomattavan siististi pidetty, mikä ei jää huomaamatta. Kojelaudan muotoilukin on pysynyt merkille ominaisen ajattomana. Huomaa nahkaratti ja puupanelointi.
Auto Bild Suomen numerosta 23-24/2010 kannattaa lukea, mitkä kohdat aiheuttavat edellisen sukupolven 9-5:ssä yleisimmin harmia, ja miksi Isuzu-pohjaista 3.0 V6 -turbodieseliä kannattaa mahdollisuuksien mukaan välttää.
Ensimmäisen sukupolven 9-5 (vm. 1997-2010) saattoi tuntua uutena kalliilta, mutta jälkikäteen voi koettaa seurata sopivan, käytetyn yksilön renkaanjäljissä, joko Suomessa tai Saksassa. Joukosta saattaa löytää ei pähkinää purtavaksi, vaan todella kovan luun. Löytöyksilömme oli vuosimallia 2000, varustettuna kaksilitraisella 150 hv (110 kW) turbonelikolla sekä viisivaihteisella manuaalilaatikolla.
Vasta 150 000 kilometriä ajettu auto näyttää yltä, päältä todella siistiltä ja huolella pidetyltä. Sen huoltokirjassa on ilahduttavan kattava valikoima leimoja. Totesimme Saabin kulkevan pehmeän mukavasti, vaikka neliportainen automaatti vaihtaakin verkkaisesti. Tulee kuitenkin muistaa tämän vuoteen 2001 käytössä olleen Aisin AW -automaattilaatikon olleen jo kymmenen vuotta sitten vanhakantainen. Tilalle tuli sittemmin viisiportainen Aisinin valmistama automaattivaihteisto.
Isoa Saabia etsiessä ei kuitenkaan kannata hätäillä. Miksi kannattaa päätyä nimenomaan kaksilitraiseen bensiiniturboon, eikä esimerkiksi houkuttelevan tehokkaaseen 176 hv (125 kW) Isuzu-valmisteiseen 3.0 V6 -turbodieseliin?
