Apua, mitä teen! Autoni jäähdytysneste on päässyt jäätymään kovien pakkasten vuoksi! Miten toimin, ettei tule lisävaurioita? Lue tästä pikaohjeet paitsi, jos autosi moottori on ilmajäähdytteinen.
1. Mitä tapahtuu, jos auton jäähdytysneste pääsee jäätymään?
Älä missään tapauksessa käynnistä moottoria, jos jäähdytysneste on päässyt jäätymään! Vesipumppu on nimittäin jumissa, ja käynnistyksestä seuraa muutoin vakavia moottorivaurioita. Hinauta auto merkkihuoltoon. Sen sijaan ylä- ja alavesiletkut yleensä sietävät jäätymisenkin vaurioitta. Useimmissa moottoreissa on pakkasproppu, jonka jäätynyt vesi työntää paikoiltaan. Uuden pakkaspropun asennus ja mahdollisten muiden vaurioiden tarkastus on huoltokorjaamon tehtävä.
2. Mihin pakkaslukemaan asti auton jäähdytysnesteen pitäisi suojata pakkaselta?
Se kerrotaan autonmerkkikohtaisesti. Arvo riippuu jäähdytysnesteen ja veden sekoitussuhteesta. Suomessa kovilla pakkasilla onkin syytä varmistaa, että seos todella sietää pahojakin pakkasia. Muutoin tulee vakavia vaurioita. Nesteen pakkaskestävyyden voi mitata erityisellä mittarilla. Merkkihuollossa pakkasneste tarkistetaan ja konetilaan laitetaan kulloinenkin pakkaslukematarra. Sen avulla tietää, paljonko pakkasta oman jäähdytysnesteen pitäisi sietää.
